Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (ME)/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) is a complex, acquired condition with numerous symptoms related mainly to the dysfunction of the brain, gastro-intestinal, immune, endocrine, cardiac and circulatory systems.  ME/CFS causes a spectrum of disability ranging from mild symptoms through to the very severely disabled.

ME/CFS Australia is the peak body representing all people in Australia, including the Northern Rivers region, living with or affected by ME/CFS. One of their key goals is to influence national health care decision makers to improve the care and treatment of people with ME/CFS. Their members are ME/CFS organisations in Australia, primarily the state ME/CFS organisations.  The local FNC ME/CFS Association is one such integral member.
